Your Occupation Just Vanished From the NSW Skills List 2026. Now What?
Picture this. You’ve passed your skills assessment, retaken the English test to hit the score you wanted, and your Expression of Interest has been sitting in SkillSelect for months. Then, on 15 October 2026, you check the NSW Skills List, and your occupation isn’t there.
That’s the new reality for a lot of engineers, ICT professionals, and scientists. And for a completely different group (teachers, dental practitioners, web developers), the same update is good news.
NSW has revised the Skills List for its Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190). Fifteen occupation groups came in, and sixteen went out. One thing to get straight early: this changes the NSW state list, not Australia’s national skilled occupation lists. Other states and other visas play by their own rules.
The timing matters, too. NSW says its first Subclass 190 invitation round for 2026–27 is expected in the week commencing 19 October 2026, which is this week.
