High-Skilled Position: The applicant must be offered a strategic position within a company that is formed in Malta and is significant for the company’s further development.

Salary Threshold: An annual gross salary of at least €30,000 per year is required.

Relevant Qualifications and Experience: The candidate should have at least three years' experience and be qualified in the necessary skills required for the job.

Employment Contract: An employment contract with a company in Malta for a minimum period of one year.

Job Offer: Obtain an offer of employment from a Maltese company for a highly qualified position.

Application Submission: The KEI application is presented by the employer to the Identity Malta Agency on behalf of the candidate. The application must provide documents on qualifications, employment contract and any other necessary documents.

Processing: The Identity Malta Agency assesses the application. It generally takes up to five to ten working days to complete this process.

Approval: After recommendation the applicant is issued with a one-year work permit that can be renewed if the employment continues and criteria of KEI are met.

Relocation: After the approval, the candidate is free to move to Malta and start working.
