Canada Visa Timelines Change: Who Faces Longer Waits and Who Gets Relief?

Students Need to Plan Their Applications Carefully

The increase may cause concern for students preparing to join Canadian colleges and universities. Those who have received admission offers should allow enough time for visa processing before booking flights or making final travel arrangements.

The visitor visa timeline has improved slightly, falling from 30 days to 29 days. However, parents and grandparents planning to visit family in Canada through the Super Visa programme now face an estimated wait of 77 days, compared with 74 days earlier.

Work Permit Waiting Time Remains Unchanged

For Indian applicants seeking Canadian work permits from India, the estimated waiting period remains at 11 weeks. Those already in Canada and applying to extend their work permits face a longer estimated wait of 13 weeks.

These timelines are estimates, not guaranteed decision dates. Applicants should check the latest IRCC figures and ensure their documents are complete before submitting an application.

With processing times varying across visa categories, planning ahead remains important for anyone hoping to study, work or visit Canada.
