Travellers planning a trip to Cuba have a new online platform to handle their visa applications. The country has launched a new portal that allows visitors to apply for tourist, family, and business exploration visas, expanding its earlier system that mainly covered tourism.
Announced on 4 November 2026, the new portal is available at www.consular.cu through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' consular services platform, tramites.consular.cu.
The launch follows a system upgrade that began on 29 October, when Cuba started moving from Evisa1 to Evisa2. The previous portal was expected to reopen on 2 November but remained unavailable on 3 November, leaving travelers unable to submit new online applications.
What Has Changed in Cuba's Visa System?
The new platform offers three visa categories:
| Visa category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Tourist Visa | Holidays and leisure visits |
| Family Visa | Visiting relatives in Cuba |
| Business Exploration Visa | Commercial exploration activities |
The portal is available in English, Spanish, and French. Applicants must verify their email address, complete an on-screen verification, select their country and the relevant Cuban consulate, and enter their personal and passport details.
