What is EVUS?
A valid US visitor visa may not be the only document some Chinese travellers need before departure. Citizens and nationals of the People's Republic of China holding a 10-year B1, B2, or B1/B2 visa must complete enrollment in the Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS) before travelling to the United States.
EVUS is an online system used to update traveler information. It is not a visa and cannot replace the valid visitor visa.
How long does enrollment last?
Successful EVUS enrollment is generally valid for two years, until six months before the passport expires, or until the visa expires, whichever comes first. Travellers who renew their passports should complete a new enrolment using their updated passport details.
The enrollment must be successful before travel. Having a valid 10-year visa alone is not enough if EVUS is required and the enrollment is missing or no longer valid.
Where should you apply?
Use the official EVUS website. Check your enrollment status before leaving for the airport, and make sure the passport and visa details match your travel documents. Other visa categories are not covered by this particular EVUS requirement.
At World Visa Group, we help individuals understand permanent residency pathways and take informed steps towards their long-term immigration goals.
A 10-year visa still needs the right travel paperwork. Check EVUS before you fly.
