Planning a trip to Russia could become a little different if the country's latest visa proposal gets approved. The Russian government is considering changes to its electronic visa system, including a shorter visa validity period, a longer permitted stay, and fewer restrictions on where visitors can enter the country.
The proposal has been prepared by Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Here is what travelers need to know.
What Is Changing in Russia's e-Visa System?
At present, Russia's single-entry e-Visa is valid for 120 days from the date it is issued. Visitors can stay in the country for a maximum of 30 days after arrival.
The proposed system would bring both periods down to 45 days. While the visa would have a shorter validity window, travelers entering soon after receiving it could spend more time in Russia.
| Visa condition | Current rules | Proposed rules |
|---|---|---|
| Visa validity | 120 days | 45 days |
| Permitted stay | Up to 30 days | Up to 45 days |
| Number of entries | Single entry |
