Picture this: you find a great job offer in a small Ontario town, start dreaming about Canada PR, and only later learn the address sits just outside the boundary. Ouch.
That’s the risk with Ontario REDI 2026. The province relaunched the initiative on October 16, and it runs through the end of 2027. Six communities made the cut: Greater Sudbury, Kenora District, Nipissing District, Rainy River District, Renfrew County, and Thunder Bay. The goal is to fill jobs that local hiring can’t.
How many Ontario REDI 2026 spaces are on offer?
Nobody knows yet. Ontario hasn’t published allocations for this round. The earlier pilot had four communities with 200 spaces each, but don’t treat that as a promise. Different round, different numbers.
Does your job fall inside the lines?
Ontario draws the map using Statistics Canada census divisions. A job in a neighboring town may not count. Check the exact workplace address first.
There’s no REDI application.
You won’t find a form with REDI on it. Candidates go through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) and must qualify under a provincial stream. Right now, the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream is the only active pathway, since the Employer Job Offer streams closed in late June 2026.
A nomination isn’t PR
Even with a nomination in hand, you still apply to the federal government for permanent residence. Ottawa makes the final call.
So is it worth a look? If you’re open to life outside the GTA, yes. Just verify the boundaries, the stream, and the allocations on Ontario’s official REDI and OINP pages before you commit to anything. For more Details:-
