The six-month rule is not the same for everyone
A passport that is valid on your departure date may still fall short of US entry requirements. In general, visitors need a passport valid for six months beyond their intended stay. However, some countries are covered by the US Six-Month Club arrangement. Travellers from those countries only need a passport valid for the period of their planned stay.
It is worth checking the rule that applies to your nationality before booking a flight.
What if your US visa is in an old passport?
You do not usually need to apply for a new visa just because your passport has expired. If the visa is still valid and has not been cancelled or revoked, you can generally carry both passports: the old one containing the visa and your new valid passport.
Do not remove the visa from the old passport.
Check the number of entries
Look at the “Entries” section on your visa. A visa marked “1” allows one entry, while a multiple-entry visa can be used for further trips during its validity, provided you meet the conditions.
Remember, a visa lets you travel to a US port of entry and request admission. It does not guarantee entry or decide how long you may stay.
