Applicants need to nominate an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list and have their skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority for that occupation.
Age limit: Applicants must be under 45 years of age at the time of invitation to apply for the application.
English language proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate competent English language skills by achieving the required score in an approved English language test, such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE).
Assessment of skills: It’s very essential to have the skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority for their nominated occupation.
EOI (Expression of Interest): It’s essential for applicants to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the SkillSelect system and also receive an invitation to apply for the visa based on their score points and occupation.
Submission of Expression of Interest (EOI): You’ll need to create an account on the SkillSelect system and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) indicating your interest in applying for the Subclass 189 visa. Provide accurate information about your skills, qualifications, work experience, and other relevant details.
Get an invitation: Once you meet the eligibility criteria and score the required points on the points test, you need to receive an invitation from the Australian government to apply for the Subclass 189 visa. Basically, the invitations are issued periodically based on the needs of the Australian labor market.
Collect Required Documents: After receiving an invitation you’ll need to gather all the required documents that’ll surely support the visa option. These documents may include your passport, educational certificates, birth certificate, employment references, skills assessment outcome, health examinations, police clearance certificates, English language test results, and many other relevant documents.
Wait until processing: After submission of your visa application, it’s truly essential to wait for the Department of Home Affairs to process your application. The processing time can vary depending on various factors that also include the completeness of your application, the complexity of your case, and the current processing times.
